Description
Spring Revisited is an incredible project from Acid Jazz in collaboration with Ace Records. It explores the musical legacy of storied New York label Spring Records, with a series of new mixes from top dance music producers, using the original master recordings. After a series of sell-out vinyl singles, several of which topped the vinyl chart, comes this essential 2LP and CD compilation.
Spring Records was a font of funk and disco during the New York club heyday. With artists such as Millie Jackson, The Fatback Band and Joe Simon, the label saw its prime in the mid-late ‘70s. Here, these cult recordings are reimagined by dance music royalty, maintaining the spirit of the original work while bringing it forward into the 21st Century.
Featured mix artists include Dimitri From Paris, Joaquin ‘Joe’ Claussell, Kenny Dope and Dave Lee, among an incredible pool of producer talent to explore this remarkable source material. More than a best-of, this compilation showcases the enduring vitality of Spring Records and the vibrancy, curation and sheer coolness of the project.
Presented in a beautiful all-green sleeve, echoing the ‘record pool’ stylings of the vinyl singles, it is pressed on colour vinyl (in the characteristic Spring theme of green and white), with sleeve-notes by Frank Tope.
