Sometimes it pays to be a studio band. Between 1980 and 1989, XTC made a remarkable run of albums, from Black Sea to Oranges and Lemons, building a reputation as one of the UK’s sharpest songwriting and recording outfits. They sold strongly in Japan and America, even if fame at home never quite matched the quality.

That decade brought six stellar albums, including two double LPs, plus two more under the wonderfully psychedelic alias The Dukes of Stratosphear, who appeared in 1985 and 1987. In 2019, Psurroundabout Ride collected the Dukes’ recordings with original stereo mixes, new 5.1 and stereo mixes by Steven Wilson, extra tracks, and demos.

Now, in 2026, Steven Wilson returns with a new Atmos mix, opening up every detail of 25 O’Clock and Psonic Psunspot. Built from the strength of the original recordings and Wilson’s clear love of the material, this set lets XTC’s psychedelic detour bloom in a whole new dimension.
