CD1 opens with Elton John’s iconic ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’, followed by Simon & Garfunkel’s defining ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’. Bruce Springsteen’s Academy Award-winning ‘Streets Of Philadelphia’ and Sting’s ‘Fields Of Gold’ showcase a pair of contemporary classics and Eurythmics and Aretha Franklin deliver commanding performances on ‘Sisters Are Doin’ It For Themselves’. Rock classics from Electric Light Orchestra with ‘Don’t Bring Me Down’ and Paul McCartney and Wings’ James Bond theme ‘Live And Let Die’ are next, and Coldplay’s #1 ‘Viva La Vida’ comes before beautiful songs from The Beach Boys, The Hollies, and Roxy Music’s cover of ‘Jealous Guy’. A run of jazz influenced sophistication next from Stan Getz, João Gilberto & Astrud Gilberto, Julie London, Amy Winehouse, Dinah Washington’s ‘Mad About The Boy’ and Sade with ‘Smooth Operator’ plus Frank Sinatra’s classic ‘Come Fly With Me’… and taking the first disc toward its close are ‘Let’s Stay Together’ from Tina Turner and ‘20’s favourites from Miley Cyrus and The Weeknd.

CD2 brings stellar power-pop and rock, kicking off with Billy Joel’s ‘We Didn’t Start The Fire’, ahead of Elvis Presley’s ‘Suspicious Minds’ followed by Cher and the epic ‘The Whole Of The Moon’ from The Waterboys. Marc Almond’s brilliant ‘The Days Of Pearly Spencer’ leads into a run of ‘80s gems, including from, Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Blondie, Kim Carnes, Dexys Midnight Runners, The Specials, The Jam and the Pretenders with ‘Talk Of The Town’, plus the stunning ‘War Baby’ from Tom Robinson. The Police’s ‘Roxanne’ is included ahead of a selection of all-time essentials including from Bob Dylan, the Stone Poneys & Linda Ronstadt, and The Mamas & The Papas’ ‘California Dreamin’ along with Harry Nilsson and Neil Diamond before closing with Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Albatross’.

CD3 opens with massive #1s from Art Garfunkel with ‘Bright Eyes’ and 10cc with ‘I’m Not In Love’. The beautiful ballads continue from The Moody Blues’ with ‘Nights In White Satin’, Chicago’s ‘If You Leave Me Now’ and Ed Sheeran’s modern classic ‘Perfect’. More contemporary pop from Lewis Capaldi and Lana Del Rey come before iconic ‘70s smashes from Carly Simon with ‘You’re So Vain’, Kiki Dee with ‘Amoureuse’ and ‘Reason To Believe’ from Rod Stewart. Enduring pop-rock from Toto, Journey, Chesney Hawkes and Roy Orbison lead to the disc’s closing tracks that include some of the most popular love songs ever made including Patsy Cline’s ‘Crazy’ The Platters with ‘Smoke Gets In Your Eyes’, Dionne Warwick’s ‘A House Is Not A Home’ and finishing on ‘Unchained Melody’ from The Righteous Brothers.

The final disc continues to showcase great vocalists with unforgettable songs, beginning with Dolly Parton’s peerless ‘Jolene’ followed by Lesley Gore’s ‘You Don’t Own Me’, Dusty Springfield’s ‘I Close My Eyes And Count To Ten’ and Shirley Bassey with her truly iconic signature ‘Goldfinger’. Next up, an incredible run of legendary soul, R&B and disco, including from Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, Womack & Womack, Donna Summer, Chic, and Rose Royce – with timeless ballads ‘Killing Me Softly With His Song’ from Roberta Flack, The Stylistics’ ‘You Make Me Feel Brand New’ and Lionel Richie & Diana Ross together on ‘Endless Love’. Marianne Faithfull’s ‘The Ballad Of Lucy Jordan’ has become a true classic as have huge 80s hits from Simply Red and Bryan Ferry.
