Released in 1978, Journey to Addis marked a major step forward for Third World, further developing the group’s fusion of roots reggae, soul, funk, and international influences. Inspired by themes of African heritage and spiritual connection, the album reflects the band's growing ambition and global outlook.

Balancing conscious songwriting with polished musicianship, the record features some of Third World’s most enduring material, including “Now That We Found Love,” “Cool Meditation,” and the title track. Praised for its rich arrangements and crossover appeal, Journey to Addis helped establish Third World as one of reggae’s most innovative and internationally successful groups.
